Everything in our world is connected

From the vast expanse of nature to the intricate details of our daily lives.

Yet, do you know who made the clothes you are wearing now? Or how they were made?

Probably not.

Connection has been lost in the textile industry.

But that’s about to change.

Welcome to
our community!

Here, you get to explore and connect with textile crafts in so many fun ways.

Find and either buy or rent unique items straight from the people who made them.

Want to make something yourself? Our makers are here to help you out with the right knowledge and resources.

Keep your items looking great with help from our makers, or learn to repair them on your own.

Looking for more? Join our community, where creativity flourishes as we make, learn, and draw inspiration from one another.

Redefining the textile industry one thread at a time

Who are we?

When you buy something from our marketplace, you’re buying straight from the person who made it. Each maker runs their own business but is also a member of our community, which means they are supported in operating there business and encouraged to work in a sustainable way. A little bit of the money from each sale goes to our community. This helps us keep going and supports our mission: to build a worldwide community that values and supports the art of textile making.

Right now, Atelier Félie is in charge of running Tales of Threads. But, in the near future, our makers will take over and run it together as a cooperative. This means they’ll make decisions and manage things as a team, making sure our community and its goals are always at the heart of what we do.

Join our community!

Inspired by Lidewij Edelkoort’s vision of the Age of the Amateur, we champion a shift toward valuing personal creativity over brands and mass-produced goods. This perspective encourages everyone to blur the lines between hobbyist and professional, promoting the sharing of unique, handmade creations fueled by passion and personal expression.

Yet, we understand that creating and sharing your work can feel isolating and challenging on your own. Recognizing this, we’ve established a nurturing community for local makers. Here, sharing your craft is an empowering experience, supported by a network of friends.

Marketplace

Through our marketplace, you can profit from your creativity, whether you’re selling handmade items, offering courses, or providing materials.

Shared knowledge

Joining our community means you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself anymore. We share patterns, provide advice on finding the best fabrics, and offer tips on running your creative business.

Gatherings

You’ll also find a new circle of friends here. We come together monthly, to exchange creative ideas, craft side by side and capture our creations with professional photography.
